Spot price of solar cells in the Greater China region stopped falling this week (Dec 5-9), according to Digitimes Research analyst Chihheng Liang. The spot price of solar cells has been quite stable for the past few weeks because firms have been reducing capacity and taking up orders selectively, added Liang. Solar cell makers no longer are willing to lower quotes to obtain orders.
The spot price of polysilicon continued to decrease this week mainly reflecting the price trend in China, Liang indicated. The range of polysilicon spot price in Taiwan was US$22-25/kg, while in China, distributors were quoting as low as US$21/kg. Nevertheless, spot prices quoted by international polysilicon suppliers remained above US$30/kg, concluded Liang.
