The ISE Labs operated by ASE Technology Holdings has enabled the world's top backend service provider to render IC test and validation services directly to makers of diverse hardware and software systems in 3C, CPU, automotive, healthcare, military and aerospace sectors, according to company sources.

The sources said that many tech giants including Google, Amazon and Apple are proceeding with in-house development of chipsets for use in their own system products, and are seeking semiconductor supply chain partners, providing significant business opportunities for ISE Labs. Besides the semiconductor sector, ISE Labs has also landed orders for offering IC test and accreditation services to the biotechnology, automotive electronics, military engineering and medical sectors.

ISE Labs, based in Silicon Valley, now has a total of over 140 employees, including over 50 engineers. It is equipped with 45 wafer probing machines, 50 IC testing machines, and electric vehicles charging systems, with solar panels installed on the roof of the labs.

At the moment, ISE Labs mainly offers reliability and quality tests on chipsets applicable to a wider variety of sectors such as smartphones, aerospace, autonomous driving, automotive navigation, and physical examination, among others.

ISE Labs has invested US$11.4 million to develop advanced technologies for testing IC production process, finished IC products, wafer probing, reliability, environmental stress, mechanical stress, electrostatic discharge, and failure analysis.
