China-based TV vendors are looking to procure about 30 million TV panels from Taiwan-based panel makers in 2013, according to the China Video Industry Association (CVIA).
Within that amount, the vendors are particularly interested in purchasing 65-inch Ultra HD TV panels in addition to LCD units, 65-inch IGZO TFT Ultra HD units, as well as WCG TV panels, lens-free 3D TV panels and transparent displays, added industry sources.
Additionally, CVIA vice president Bai Wemin noted at a recent trip to Taiwan-based AU Optronics (AUO) that both China and Taiwan need to further tighten relations in the panel industry and work with one another more closely in the years to come.
Bai also said that China and Taiwan can complement one another in terms of production capacity and technological development, which will allow the panel industries in the two areas to further tackle markets including emerging markets across the globe.
The vendors' procurements from Taiwan panel makers in 2013 is expected to reach over US$4.5 billion, said CVIA.
