Amazon plans to invest more than US$35 billion in India across its businesses through 2030, expanding on the nearly US$40 billion it has already invested in the country, the company said on December 10, 2025, at the sixth Amazon Smbhav Summit in New Delhi. The planned investment will target business expansion and three priority areas: AI-driven digitization, export growth, and job creation.

The company cited an Economic Impact Report by Keystone Strategy indicating that its cumulative investments of almost US$40 billion—including employee compensation and infrastructure development—make it one of the largest foreign investors in India and a major contributor to e-commerce exports and job creation. The company has developed fulfillment centers, transportation networks, data centers, digital payment systems, and technology infrastructure as part of its operations in the country.

According to the Keystone report, Amazon has digitized more than 12 million small businesses, enabled US$20 billion in cumulative e-commerce exports, and supported about 2.8 million direct, indirect, induced, and seasonal jobs in India in 2024. These roles span technology, operations, logistics, and customer support. The company said its economic impact includes employment in packaging, logistics, technology services, and other related sectors through its network of suppliers and small businesses.

Amazon stated that by 2030, it aims to add another 1 million jobs across direct and indirect categories. Job additions would be linked to business expansion and the growth of its fulfillment and delivery networks, which also support activities in packaging, manufacturing, and transportation.

The company outlined strategic areas for investment through 2030, including expanded AI capabilities, strengthened logistics infrastructure, and programs intended to support small businesses. It also said it seeks to increase cumulative e-commerce exports enabled through its platforms to US$80 billion by the end of the decade.

Amazon announced a broader AI initiative to make AI tools and training more widely accessible in India. By 2030, the company plans to extend AI-enabled tools to 15 million small businesses and develop AI-based shopping features for customers, such as visual search, conversational assistance, and multilingual services. It also plans to support AI education for 4 million government school students through curriculum programs, technology tours, hands-on activities, and teacher training aligned with India's National Education Policy 2020.

The company said these initiatives are intended to support digital adoption, improve infrastructure, and broaden access to technology as part of its long-term operating strategy in the Indian market.
