On July 18, 2025, in Beijing, China's Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao attended a press conference held by the State Council Information Office on the country's high-quality fulfillment of targets set for the 14th Five-Year Plan period. He announced that on July 17, he met with Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang in Beijing, signaling China's continued engagement with American high-tech companies.
Regarding US-China economic and trade relations, Wang stated that despite fluctuations in bilateral ties, both sides remain each other's most important trading and investment partners. He stressed that the essence of US-China economic and trade relations is mutually beneficial and a win-win cooperation; collaboration is the only correct choice. Wang acknowledged that differences and frictions are inevitable in economic cooperation but stressed that solutions can only be found through dialogue and negotiation.
Addressing widespread concerns about the risk of US-China "decoupling," Wang responded bluntly that it will not happen.
Additionally, during the third China International Supply Chain Expo, Apple Greater China managing director Isabel Ge Mahe publicly stated that Apple's current success would not be possible without close cooperation with Chinese suppliers. According to official data, over 80% of Apple's top 200 global suppliers have production bases in China.
Against the backdrop of escalating US-China technology competition, there is intense attention on how American companies like Nvidia and Apple interact with the Chinese market.
Apple CEO Tim Cook, who had participated in the supply chain expo for two consecutive years, did not attend this year's event. Meanwhile, during his visit to China, Huang also met with Xiaomi founder Lei Jun, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Chairman Ren Hongbin, and Commerce Minister Wang, among others.
