PCB manufacturer Tripod Technology and Iteq, a producer of copper clad laminates (CCL), have both unveiled plans to construct plants in Hubei Province, central China with new capacities scheduled to go online as early as the fourth quarter of 2012.
Tripod revealed its board of directors has approved plans to build a factory in Xiantao, Hubei, with an investment of US$30 million. The company has begun construction of the new facility, which is slated to complete in the second quarter of 2012.
Tripod expects the new factory - which will mainly produce applications for hard drives, notebooks and LCD panels - to begin volume production in the fourth quarter of 2012 at the earliest.
Tripod currently has two production sites, one in Taiwan and the other in Wuxi, southeast China.
Meanwhile, Iteq is also building a CCL plant for products used to make HDI boards in Xiantao, Hubei, with an investment of NT$1 billion (US$33.3 million). The new facility is scheduled to commence operations around the end of 2012, and will be the CCL supplier's third production base in China.
