Having developed flat fluorescent lamp (FFL) backlight units (BLUs) for 32-inch LCD TVs, Samsung Corning plans to start volume producing FFL BLUs for 40- and 46-inch TVs soon, the company said.
The 32-inch TV-use FFL BLUs have been booked by Samsung Electronics, and Samsung Corning plans to boost its FFL BLU capacity from one million units per year to two million, with second-stage construction also under way, the BLU maker said.
