Toshiba, on July 22, introduced two of its 25-year-anniversary notebooks in Taiwan, of which the high-end 13-inch Portege R700 will cost NT$46,000-58,000 (US$1431.5-1804.9) depending on the CPU grade.
The R700 features either an Intel Core i3 or i5 processor and built-in DVD burner, and an ultra-thin chassis with a weight of only 1.4kg. The R700 also features a cooling module co-developed by Toshiba and Intel.
Although the R700 is manufactured by Toshiba's in-house in China the related components are mostly outsourced to Taiwan-based makers.
Toshiba also introduced its dual-screen notebook, the Libretto W100 in Taiwan featuring two 7-inch touch panels and 64GB SSD. The device can be used as a netbook or e-book reader.
