Yageo, Taiwan's leading passive component manufacturer, said its third meeting with Japan's Shibaura Electronics concluded successfully in Taipei, marking a key step in Yageo's ongoing tender offer for the NTC thermistor specialist.

Held on July 17–18 and marking Shibaura's first visit to Taiwan, the meeting resulted in a shared understanding of potential synergies. The two firms plan reciprocal factory visits to deepen operational insights and draft actionable collaboration plans, signaling momentum in the high-profile Taiwan-Japan cross-border deal.

Yageo said the discussions centered on how its global footprint could support Shibaura's advanced technologies. Shibaura's management showed transparency and openness, reinforcing Yageo's confidence and aligning both parties on corporate values, long-term goals, and business strategy.

Both parties also explored corporate culture, strategic direction, technology development, and governance, agreeing on long-term synergy opportunities and overall strategic fit.

Yageo initiated an unsolicited takeover bid (TOB) on May 9 at JPY6,200 (US$42) per share to scale its sensor business. The bid has since undergone five revisions and now extends through August 1. Yageo aims to finalize the acquisition in the third quarter of 2025, with plans to make Shibaura a 100% owned subsidiary.
