The penetration rate of smart TVs in the China market is expected to reach 35% in 2013 at 15.5 million units followed by 50% in 2014, according to market observers.
The observers said many first-tier TV vendors in China are promoting their products by displaying smart functions through platforms such as Miracast, which enables wireless or wired delivery of compressed standard or HD video to or from desktops, tablets, and smartphones. Such moves are pushing smart TV sales in China, the observers added.
The observers said the vendors are also expected to push touch remote controls as well as remote control via smartphones and tablets in 2014, which should help push up the penetration rate even higher.
Smart Ultra HD TVs are also expected to be a main focus for vendors in 2014, the observers noted.
