China TV vendors continue to adjust reserves among expected slowdown

China-based TV vendors are expected to continue adjusting their reserves from June throughout August 2013 due to an expected slowdown in sales, but they expect operations to pick back up in September, according to industry sources.

The adjustment comes as the China government recently ended subsidies for local consumers looking to purchase LCD TVs. The subsidies played a big role in driving TV sales in China throughout the second half of 2012 into the first half of 2013 and are likely to affect TV shipments in China throughout the second half of the year due to being discontinued, the sources said.

However, the vendors' shipments are expected to pick up in September in preparation for China's October 1 holiday period when TV sales in China typically increase. The vendors meanwhile also have plans to further promote Ultra HD TV products to increase their performances, the sources added.

The sources also said the vendors' supply chains may face reduced performances throughout 2013 as a result of decreased TV demand in China.
