Demand for passive components will continue to grow in the third quarter as compared to the prior quarter, pushing up revenue growth at passive component distributors and vendors, according to industry sources.
Orders from the notebook and power supply sectors have remained strong recently although orders from motherboard clients have actually slowed down, indicated the sources, noting that overall order visibility for passive components has extended to the end of July.
Passive component distributor Podak revealed that shipments of its specialty polymer aluminum electrolytic capacitors (SP-Caps) reached 40 million units in May compared to 30 million a month in the first quarter of 2010.
However, Podak and component vendors Nichidenbo are expected to see their revenues decline slightly in May as compared to April when their revenues both hit the highest levels for the year at NT$336 million (US$10.5 million) and NT$227 million, respectively.
