Altos Computing, an Acer subsidiary that provides high-performance computing and cloud computing solutions, expects to post a 200% revenue hike in 2022.
In the first three quarters of 2022, the company garnered revenue of over NT$1 billion (US$32 million), buoyed by expanded business in China and India, according to company president Andrew Hou.
China sales currently account for 15% of total revenues. The company's subsidiary in India is expected to jack up revenue of NT$200 million in 2022, and sales in Thailand have begun generating income since the third quarter of this year.
Hou expects the revenue for all of 2022 to reach NT$1.4-1.5 billion, exceeding the company's target and increasing two-fold from a year earlier. Sales in Asia will make up 70-75% of the company's total revenue in 2022.
Sales are expected to grow at a double-digit rate in 2023, and the company plans to deepen its deployments in Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, and Australia in the coming year.
Altos has also ventured into some European markets, with sales in the region to account for 20-30% of total revenue in 2022, Hou noted.
Meanwhile, Altos is striving to transform itself into an integrated software and hardware solution provider instead of a computing hardware supplier, as it currently is.
Moving towards the goal, Altos has announced plans to tie up with LED driver IC supplier Macroblock to co-develop smart security surveillance systems.
Under the plan, Altos will offer its BrainSphere series server and workstation products incorporated with Macroblock's advanced image transmission solutions and smart analysis systems to provide a one-stop service for image analysis needs in different fields.
According to CN Zou, president of Macroblock, the smart video surveillance platform built by the two parties can achieve service automation through AI acceleration and effectively improve the efficiency of image decoding.
The integrated surveillance system can support up to 161 cameras simultaneously, compared to the support of about 60 cameras of the traditional surveillance solutions, Zou said, adding that the storage capacity will also be increased by 2-3 times.
