Except for TV applications, LCD panel prices in February stay stable, according to the latest pricing data released by DisplaySearch.
DisplaySearch indicated that rush orders have gradually brought up the shipments for LCD monitors. With LCD monitor brands and OEMs failing to secure enough panel supply, particularly for widescreen applications, some players may have to pay higher prices to secure panel allocation starting in February. DisplaySearch noted that overall LCD monitor panel supply constrains are mainly due to the cutbacks from panel makers, instead of end-demand recovery.
According to DisplaySearch's figures, LCD TV panel prices for small and medium-size models (32-inch and below) are trending up partially due to rush orders from China and the US. Both 32-inch and 26-inch panel prices have gone up US$5 in February. For the 40-inch and above segment, price pressure remains and panel prices are negotiable as long as there is demand. Prices for 37-inch and 42-inch panels have dropped US$5, while 46-inch panel prices have decreased US$10.
