NEC introduces 65-inch LCD for digital signage applications
NEC Display Solutions of America, a stand-alone provider of commercial and residential LCD, plasma and projector displays, and a digital signage solutions, announced today its largest LCD yet, the 65-inch NEC MultiSync (LCD6520).The LCD6520 is embedded with NEC's Digital Signage Technology Suite (DSTS), which includes more than 20 features and functions developed specifically for digital signage, with the display targeting applications including the transportation, corporate, medical, retail, and hospitality markets.With the addition of an expansion slot that provides the option for additional technology components, the LCD6520 provides flexibility for adopting technologies such as IPTV, or for the insertion of small form-factor PCs, media players or additional input configurations.This new display features a 1920×1080 Full HD resolution with a 2000:1 contrast ratio, 6-millisecond response time, and supports both digital and analog inputs. The display is available in both portrait and landscape models.The NEC MultiSync LCD6520 is available in a black cabinet and is backed by 24-hour/day 7-day/week customer service and technical support. The 65-inch display includes a standard three-year warranty. Lanner releases FW-8650 Unified Communication Appliance
Lanner Electronics has announced the release of the FW-8650, a Unified Communication Appliance designed for a broad array of network service applications, network security, QoS, bandwidth management, load balancing and VoIP."The Intel Q965 Express chipset offers features that specifically address key requirements in network service applications, such as increased memory bandwidth, faster system bus and low-power processor support," said Rose Schooler, director of marketing, embedded and communication processor division, Intel. "When combined with the Intel Core 2 Duo processor, it delivers a host of benefits that enable Lanner's customers to deploy more responsive network service appliances with increased energy-efficient performance, flexibility and scalability."The system design focuses on scalable architecture with support for 1066/800/533 system bus processors, including Intel Core 2 Duo, Pentium 4 and Celeron D processors. The inclusion of six Gigabit LAN ports with three pairs supporting segment bypass results in a ramp up in network traffic throughput performance, highlighted Lanner.System performance is increased through the integration of dual-channel DDR2 SDRAM with 64-bit memory addressing, providing shorter access time for data while dual expansion slots offer the ability to choose between two PCI or two PCI Express slots, giving a valuable advantage when designing an appliance for multitasking applications, said Lanner.The FW-8650 will be available starting this month in small quantities. Taiwan market: Garmin to launch high-end GPS PND nuvi760
Garmin, at a November 29 press conference, unveiled the nuvi760, a high-end GPS PND, which will launch in the Taiwan market around December 22 at a recommended retail price of NT$16,800 (US$520).The nuvi760 features a 4.3-inch 480×720-pixel LCD touch screen, Chinese and English interfaces, Bluetooth hands-free calling, and the ability to search for points of interest by telephone numbers instead of addresses. The device measures 12.17×7.52×1.95cm (W×H×D) and weighs 175g, according to Garmin.Garmin launched its first nuvi series PND, the nuvi200, in Taiwan at NT$8,900 in March 2007 and followed with a second model, the nuvi200W at NT$11,500 in mid-October, Garmin noted.Garmin has sold more than 10 million GPS PNDs globally so far in 2007, according to product marketing director Michael Hsu of Garmin. Taiwan market: Asustek launches 2-liter desktop PC
Asustek Computer recently launched a new 2-liter desktop PC in Taiwan, the Nova P22, which adopts an Intel Core 2 Duo E6320 CPU.Currently, the price of the PC is set at NT$32,900 (US$1,020) and Asustek will launch more related hardware expansion accessories for the PC in the future, according to market sources. Taiwan market: HP to intro Photosmart C8180, MFP with DVD burning

Fujitsu to release 2.5-inch HDD with 320GB capacity
Fujitsu has announced the development of the MHZ2 BH series of 2.5-inch hard disk drives with a maximum capacity of 320GB. Sales of the new series will begin in February of 2008, according to the company.The MHZ2 BH series delivers transfer speeds of up to 300MB per second. Transcend introduces 8GB version JetFlash V30
