Notebook shipment update, February 2026

February 2026 notebook industry observation: Capacity sharply reduced during the Lunar New Year holidays, and component shortage persists; shipments of the top five notebook brands decrease 5% month-on-month.
Abstract

DIGITIMES' study of the shipments of the global top five notebook brands (excluding Apple) in February 2026 and the top three notebook ODMs, not including detachable models showed that due to the traditional seasonal slowdown in the global notebook market during February, combined shipments from the top five notebook brands declined approximately 5% month-over-month; compared with the same period in 2025 and down about 9% year-over-year.

The overall monthly decline in notebook shipments was attributed not only to ongoing supply constraints for entry-level processors used in mainstream models but also to the Lunar New Year holidays in February, which led to significant production capacity reductions at major notebook manufacturing hubs.

These factors caused a roughly 5% month-over-month drop in top-5 brands' combined shipments in February 2026, underperforming the typical average February results seen in previous years. Compared to February 2025, the shipment volume decreased year-over-year partly because the early pull-ins of orders were stronger then due to heightened risks of US tariffs on notebook imports.
