In view of the growing development of cloud-based industries and edge intelligence (EI), a total of 16 Taiwan firms including AOpen, YPCloud, TENLife and Digitimes have jointly set up the Ubiz Spheres alliance to develop and promote multiple applications of cloud technologies.

The alliance said it will focus on developing core technologies and products associated with new retail, agriculture and healthcare industries, with EI Sphere involving intelligent and secured edge expected to be widely adopted to offer the best IoT application solutions.

The EI Sphere, jointly developed by AOpen and YPCloud, is an isolated system but with the most powerful collaborative computing capability now available in the world, and is applicable to automatic cashiers, tour guide system, smart wards, and more, according to YPCloud CEO Steven Hsu.

Richard Lin, vice president of AOpen's cloud technology division, said that the Ubiz Spheres alliance will promote a brand-new business model of turnkey exports to create Taiwan's new service economy with software and hardware integration, with initial target markets including Iran, India, Indonesia and other Southeast Asian countries.

Lin said that as a leading brand of digital signage solutions, AOpen will join forces with cloud service provider YPCloud, smart IoT solutions specialist TENLife and other related players to develop diverse EI-based cloud and IoT devices, seeking to become a globally leading brand for EI devices.
