According to DIGITIMES, Agentic AI, AI server expansion, cloud service provider (CSP) in-house CPU ramp-up, and replacement demand for general-purpose servers will lift global server CPU shipments to 52.6 million units in 2027, up 45.7% year-over-year, with x86 and Arm architectures rising 35.3% and 79.1%, respectively. Tight supply of advanced process capacity, T-Glass/ABF substrates, and memory will still limit shipment growth momentum. Intel's global shipment share is projected to decline to 39% in 2027, though it will remain No. 1. AMD is expected to rise to 30.4%, narrowing the gap between the two. On revenue, AMD is projected to reach US$31.2 billion in server CPU revenue in 2027, surpassing Intel's US$28.7 billion, driven by a higher average selling price and a sharp increase in shipments.
Continued growth in Agentic AI, AI server buildouts, and CSP in-house CPU deployment, together with a rebound in replacement demand for general-purpose servers, will lift CPU demand in 2027. Constraints remain on the supply side in advanced process capacity allocation, tight T-Glass and ABF substrate supply, and memory capacity crowded out by demand for AI accelerators. DIGITIMES observes that the 2027 server CPU market will show rapidly rising demand while supply continues to catch up. The ramp speed of key component capacity will become an important variable in shipment volume.
