Abstract
DIGITIMES has observed that since SpaceX began using reusable rockets for launch missions, its payload capacity has continued to rise. In 2025, the total payload mass carried by its rockets surpassed 2,300 metric tons (t), far beyond what conventional rockets can achieve. This overwhelming lift capability, combined with highly competitive launch prices, has given SpaceX absolute dominance in the global space transportation market. Its Starlink plan has also directly accelerated the development of satellite communications systems in low Earth orbit (LEO) and is expected to continue driving demand for gallium nitride (GaN) components for equipment in related fields.

2027-2033 is expected to be a period of rapid growth for LEO satellite communications systems and services. Tens of thousands of satellites operating in LEO will provide wireless communications services to a large number of end devices. To ensure communications quality between satellites and end devices while managing power consumption, GaN components will play the most critical role. For many devices with transmission power above 10W, GaN power amplifiers are a more energy-efficient, high-performing, and reliable choice.

This report covers the current progress of LEO satellites, key operators, and policies of different countries. It also includes data on the number of GaN components used in related applications.
