Wiwynn, Taiwan-based ODM Wistron's subsidiary specifically operating direct-account sales for cloud computing, expects revenues for 2014 to double on year, according to company president Emily Hong. Wiwynn has become a direct-account supplier of servers for Amazon and of storage equipment for Facebook and Microsoft, market watchers added.

Wiwynn also recently started supplying servers for game developer Riot Games, the market watchers added.

Hong pointed out that in addition to rising demand for hardware among cloud computing players, Intel's new server processors set for the second half of 2014 will also help pump up overall server shipments in 2014.

Intel will release Haswell-based server processors in the second half of 2014, the market watchers noted.

Large Internet players are the major clients of Wiwynn, but the company is also seeing orders from small-to-medium enterprises as well as telecom carriers such as Japan's KDDI and SoftBank.

Wistron currently owns a 95% stake in Wiwynn and is planning to start an initial public offering (IPO) for Wiwynn in 2018.
