Pixart Imaging has announced that its optical touch controllers have been verified for use in Windows 8-based AIO (all-in-one) PCs and monitors. Shipments of the product line are set to rise significantly in the second half of 2013, according to company chairman Huang Sen-huang.

Sales of optical touch controller ICs are expected to account for 5-10% of Pixart's total shipments in 2013, with the ratio to climb higher in 2014, estimated the company.

In addition to optical touch controllers, Pixart has also been shipping capacitive touch controller ICs to Japan-based smartphone vendors, optimizing related capacitive touch technologies from Avago, said the company, adding that Pixart will also develop other capacitive touch IC parts for 5- to 7-inch smartphones.

Pixart is also expected to ramp up its shipments of image sensors for security monitors in the second half of 2013, Huang revealed.
