Taiwan-based Kinpo-Compal Group has set a challenging goal of increasing combined revenues to US$40 billion for 2012, with three key members Compal Electronics, Compal Communications and Cal-Comp Electronics (Thailand) expected to mainly contribute to revenue growth, according to group president Rock Hsu.
Compal Electronics aims to ship 48 million notebooks in 2012, growing 20% from 2011, and to hike the proportion of total revenues for LCD TVs and tablet PCs from 11% in 2011 to 20% in 2012, Hsu indicated.
While Compal Communication aims to ship 9.6 million smartphones in 2012, the target shipment volume might as well be hiked to 10 million units in view of fast growing global demand for smartphones, Hsu said.
Cal-Comp expects shipments of external hard disk drives (HDDs) to increase from 19 million units in 2011 to 48 million units in 2012 for a global market share of 50%, Hsu noted. In addition, Cal-Comp aims to ship 300 million PCBs for HDDs, Hsu indicated.
