Seasonality not impacting 1Q10 revenues as much as expected, say IC testing houses

King Yuan Electronics (KYEC), Sigurd Microelectronics and Ardentec all expect their first-quarter revenues to stay flat or drop by single digits sequentially, as customers have not slowed down their pace of orders despite seasonality.

KYEC remains positive about its revenue outlook for the first quarter of 2010. Previous reports cited market observers as expecting the company to see first-quarter revenues drop at a single-digit rate sequentially despite seasonality.

Market watchers now expect KYEC to see first-quarter 2010 revenues stay similar to last quarter's levels, compared to around 10% drops usually seen in previous first quarters. Continued strong demand from the handset chip and LCD driver IC sectors is helping the company defy the seasonal patterns.

Sigurd has estimated revenues for first-quarter 2010 will grow substantially compared to the levels a year ago, but slide by single digits on quarter. Meanwhile, Ardentec expects to see a single-digit revenue drop sequentially in the first quarter, according to the company.

In related news, KYEC, Sigurd and Ardentec all commented that customers' current wafer starts at foundries will not affect their performance until April. These testing houses claimed there is no sign showing customers decelerate their demand.
