Seagate and EverFocus safeguards 400 Taiwanese brand optical shops in Taiwan
Taiwanese brand Optical shops, one of the major professional optometry service providers in Taiwan, has recently deployed EverFocus eZ.IP solution, including enterprise-level CMS (Commander 2 ENVR8008), video decoder (EMX32 Surveillance Signage) and IP Cameras (EDN1220) over its 400 stores throughout Taiwan.Taiwanese brand optical comes with a request that each store should install a small network video monitoring system to serve the purposes of curbing theft, avoiding trade dispute and counting people. Considering the fact that the users of the chain stores usually do not possess technological skills, ease-of-use will be a key feature that they demand. EverFocus feature-rich IP cameras with flexible video decoders are exactly the products to meet their needs for simplicity. Therefore, four mini IP dome cameras (2-megapixel EDN1220) with the flexible video decoders (EMX32 Surveillance Signage) are used to be installed at each store.Besides all the advanced features like high resolution, WDR, DNR, 10x digital zoom or in-camera edge storage of the IP camera, there is one more much-acclaimed function which is required by Taiwanese brand Optical, the multi-stream function. EverFocus IP cameras can provide more than 2 streams for users so that even under the virtual private network (VPN) where the network bandwidth is limited, users can select the sub stream to lower the bandwidth without reducing the network speed. In addition to chain stores, a central management system (CMS) is required at the main control center to centrally control 400 stores across Taiwan. Thus, EverFocus Commander 2 ENVR8008 enterprise-level CMS is installed at the control center in Taipei to run as a server to connect all the devices deployed at 400 shops. Nearly 400 video decoders and 1,600 cameras can all be connected and operated on the EverFocus Genie XMS platform, which is a powerful platform with modular design and plug-in architecture that can be easily maintained, modified and most importantly to be integrated with many other modules which support specific functions. With EverFocus eZ.IP solution, Taiwanese brand Optical can not only benefit from the high-quality and real-time security and management, but also expand their surveillance system or to have a wider range of application anytime in the future. Genie XMS is able to be scaled up and tailored to meet a variety of needs such as IVS, POS, access control, fleet management and more. Most importantly, Genie XMS can analyze the big data and information accumulated from all these systems in order to make prediction, to provide timely response and even to optimize business performance. Therefore, Genie XMS can definitely create great value in the long run, making itself an ideal option for any company who needs a CMS platform. The Seagate Enterprise Capacity HDD delivers high capacity without sacrificing performance for reliable access to bulk storage of unstructured data.EverFocus eZ.IP solution

IP-based Communications Build up Smart Factories
The essence of smart factory lies in a well-connected communication network which allows for automated manufacturing, remote monitoring, and smooth operations. It makes possible to apply big data analysis to optimize production, logistic, and inventory management."Factory owners must build a smart factory step by step" said Hadwin Liu, Chief Architect of NEXCOM Network and Communication Solutions Business Unit. "Establishing efficient and secure industrial communication architecture is critical."The circuit switching method, used in traditional industrial communication architecture, has several drawbacks including poor transmission efficiency and time-consuming maintenance. Industrial Ethernet, however, adopts packet switching method supporting full duplex operation, sharable bandwidth, and traffic prioritization. These benefits help managers get real-time status to detect abnormality while simplifying maintenance.Still, there are plenty serial-based devices and devices using different protocols too critical to be replaced overnight. Liu suggests that factory owners can take a small step by deploying industry Ethernet switches in pursuit of better transmission efficiency and better management mechanism."VPNs and industry firewalls must be deployed for network security," Liu reminds. Industry VPNs and firewalls differ from commercial ones in protection level and durability. Experienced in industrial communication, NEXCOM offers industry VPNs and Firewalls paving ways for factories' IP migration. For factories such as wind farms, industrial Ethernet is suitable for operation monitoring, allowing operators to access real time operation status from afar. Newly built plants are also more IP-friendly. The IP-based communication will continue to drive innovation, propelling industry automation over the next decade. For more information about NEXCOM, please visit http://www.nexcom.com/The industrial Ethernet offers great flexibility in sharing bandwidth and connecting field devices.
