Abstract

DIGITIMES believes that 2026 will be a pivotal year in the stabilization of 800VDC power architectures for AI data centers. Although Nvidia is unlikely to make many major moves in this area during the year, numerous power semiconductor vendors are expected to launch corresponding solutions. This suggests that, under Nvidia’s clear GPU product roadmap, the continued rise in GPU power consumption is accelerating the development of the 800VDC power semiconductor ecosystem.

With the Rubin Ultra GPU expected to enter mass production in 2027, the Power Sidecar power rack will then directly deliver 800VDC power to the compute rack. Within the compute rack, the step-down architecture is also evolving. In addition to the existing 800VDC-to-54VDC design, 12VDC and 6VDC have also emerged as key focus areas for many power semiconductor vendors. This trend is making GaN power devices increasingly indispensable, thus creating opportunities for them to replace traditional silicon MOSFETs in secondary-side circuits.
