From tech glasses to AI gateways: Smart eyewear becomes the entry point for AI agents

Lightweight and affordable smart glasses are gradually becoming popular, with related brands and third-party developers integrating AI agents onto the mobile devices.
Abstract

DIGITIMES observes that smart glasses have recently been evolving toward lighter, thinner designs and more affordable pricing. In terms of miniaturization, smart glasses launched by brands such as Even Reality and Alibaba now feature temple thicknesses approaching those of conventional eyewear.

On the affordability side, Chinese brands account for as much as 88% of the best-selling smart glasses on Amazon's Tech Glasses ranking in the US, with an average selling price of only US$67. Both trends are helping to boost consumers' willingness to purchase. Meanwhile, both brand vendors and developers are advancing AI agent development along parallel tracks.

For example, Alibaba's Qwen AI Glasses vertically integrate services across the Alibaba ecosystem, while developers are enabling AI glasses from brands such as Meta and Rokid to connect with the open-source OpenClaw project. This indicates that AI glasses are gradually evolving into entry points for AI agents.
