From DIGITIMES' survey of the global top five notebook brands (excluding Apple) and the top three notebook ODMs for their shipments in July 2025, excluding detachable models, combined notebook shipments of the global top-5 brands plunged 28% from a month ago in July, but still increased around 14% compared to the same month a year ago.
The on-month decline was a result of multiple negative factors, including a slowdown in demand from the education sector, leading to weakening shipments of education models such as Chromebooks in July compared to June. Additionally, most notebook brands had ramped up inventory levels in the second quarter, raising the comparison baseline.
Among the top five notebook brands in July, Dell delivered the best shipment performance, growing about 6% month over month. It was also the only brand among the top five to show growth. This was mainly because Dell's key business focus is on the enterprise sector, which often enjoys stable demand. It also ramped up shipments in July to meet its fiscal year shipment targets, leading to better performance than other brands.
