Huawei has unveiled its new premier smartphone, the Huawei P9, in London, which is expected to compete head to head with Apple's iPhone 6s and Samsung Electronics' Galaxy S7.
The P9 has a unique feature of a pair of Leica-certified cameras and is also thinner compared to the iPhone 6s or Galaxy S7 despite the dual-camera design, Huawei Device chairman Richard Yu noted.
The P9 also features a 5.2-inch display, an octa-core Kirin 955 CPU, aluminum unibody case, 3,000mAh battery, and USB type-C port.
The P9 32GB is priced at GBP599 (US$683), compared to US$759 for the iPhone 6s 16GB and US$801 for the Galaxy S7 32GB.
The P9 will be available in 29 markets starting April 16, including China and a number of countries in Europe and the Middle East. However, Huawei has no plans to launch the P9 in the US.
