Fabless IC design house NeoEnergy Microelectronics(NEM), a subsidiary of Delta Electronics, has begun volume production of its new power management (PWM) IC, the NE1119, which is designed for Haswell-based ultrabooks, according to the company.
In addition to ultrabooks, the NE1119 can also be used for other industrial applications, including printers, POS devices and automatic tools, the company added.
The NE1119 PWM IC has also entered the design-in process of a number of devices developed by Delta, and ultrabooks adopting the new PWM ICs are expected to hit the market at the end of 2013, said the company, adding that shipments of the NE1119 chips are expected to top 1-2 million units in 2014.
The NE1119 chips are manufactured at Vanguard International Semiconductor (VIS), using 0.5- and 0.6-micron high-voltage process nodes.
