LCD driver IC maker Orise Technology is expected to see an up to 5% revenue growth in the first quarter of 2010, mainly driven by increasing shipments of timing controllers (T-Cons) used in LCD TVs, according to market sources. T-Cons will be Orise's major growth driver in 2010.
T-Cons used in LCD TVs were mainly supplied by Japan-based makers before 2009. Orise looks to market growth of the product line and has turn to focus on the TV segment from IT applications. Novatek Microelectronics, Himax Technologies and Faraday Technology have also entered the market, the sources said.
Orise's first-quarter gross margin is also expected to increase by 1-2ppt thanks to sales of high-margin T-Cons.
Additionally, the company has been developing new product lines and will introduce e-paper related products later in the year.
