Delta Electronics has denied rumors that Wistron will acquire its DLP (digital light processing) rear-projection TV (RPTV) business while Wistron said it is not discussing about the issue with Delta, according to recent filings with the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TSE) from both companies.
Delta said in the filing the January 2 report from the Chinese-language Commercial Times was untrue.
Today's Chinese-language Economic Daily News quoted Jesse Chou, head of Delta's public relation department, in saying that Delta only agreed that its staff for TV-related business can join Wistron. Chou also stated that Wistron is now in the initial stage of developing the LCD TV market and needs related specialists. However, Delta has not finalized the number of staff to join Wistron, the paper said.
During it's third quarter investor conference in October, Delta CEO Yancey Hai said the company will gradually phase out its RPTV business and it will discontinue funding its RPTV business due to continuous losses from the sector.
