Acer Liquid M220 smartphone
Acer has unveiled the Liquid M220 smartphone, its first Liquid series smartphone to run on the Windows Phone 8.1 operating system. The phone features a 4-inch 233ppi display, a 5-megapixel auto-focus back-end and a 2-megapixel front-end camera. The back-end camera also sports an 89-degree wide-angle lens. Both the Liquid Leap and Liquid Leap+ smart active bands are compatible with Windows Phone 8.1, making them companions of the Liquid M220 for users with healthcare needs. The Liquid M220 will also have optional accessories ranging from matching color flip covers to matching color protective cases. The Liquid M220 will become available in April through selected EMEA retailers, starting EUR79 (US$88.42).

HTC Windows Phone 8X, 8S
HTC and Microsoft have unveiled the first signature Windows Phones, the Windows Phone 8X and 8S by HTC. The new HTC smartphones feature the new Windows Phone 8 operating system, and Beats Audio. The 8X has a 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera with an 88-degree ultra-wide angle lens. It also supports 1080p video capture. The rear camera sports an 8mp CMOS sensor with backside-illumination (BSI) for improved low-light performance, along with an f/2.0 aperture, 28mm lens and a dedicated imaging chip. The HTC 8X features a 4.3-inch HD LCD screen protected from bumps and scrapes by Gorilla Glass 2, while optical lamination reduces reflections and glare. The 8S has a 4-inch LCD screen with Gorilla Glass. The Windows Phone 8X and 8S by HTC will be available beginning in November.

Nokia Lumia 920
Nokia has announced the Nokia Lumia 920 and the Nokia Lumia 820, the first devices in Nokia's Windows Phone 8 range. Both phones will be available in pentaband LTE and HSPA+ variants and are expected to start shipping in select markets later in 2012. The Nokia Lumia 920 is the flagship Windows Phone 8 smartphone, including the latest advances in Nokia PureView imaging innovation. Using advanced floating lens technology, the camera in the Nokia Lumia 920 is able to take in five times more light than competing smartphones without using flash, making it possible to capture clear, bright pictures and video indoors and at night, the vendor said. The Nokia Lumia 920 also comes with Nokia City Lens, the latest addition to the Nokia location suite. By pointing the camera at a city street, City Lens overlays information about restaurants, shops, hotels and more on the surfaces of buildings. Nokia City Lens also enhances Nokia Maps, making it possible to move between maps view and augmented reality view to help people check their direction and surroundings. Along with enhancements to Nokia Drive and Nokia Transport, the Nokia location suite of services represents a comprehensive, integrated mapping experience, the company said.
