According to DIGITIMES' study and analyses, overseas market demand remained weak in the second quarter of 2025, and despite the promotions for the 618 shopping festival along with the subsidy from China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), the boost to replacement demand had already dulled, leading to overall shipments by China-based smartphones brands to increase only by 2.2% quarter-over-quarter and 4.8% year-over-year.
In the second quarter of 2025, Chinese smartphone vendors shipped a total of 175.2 million units. Observing the shipment performance by tier, the combined quarter-over-quarter growth rate of the top-3 brands –Xiaomi, Oppo, and Transsion –was lower than that of the top-4 to -7, Vivo, Honor, Lenovo, and Huawei, combined.
As a result, the top-3 brands accounted for 57.1% of shipments, down from the 58.9% in the previous quarter.
