DIGITIMES' survey on the global top five notebook brands' (excluding Apple) shipments in April 2025 revealed a 26% month-over-month decline in the combined volumes since April is traditionally a slow season for channel retailers over notebook inventory distribution.
Meanwhile, most notebook brands' early pull-ins of orders originally meant for April, in March 2025 as a countermeasure against the US' potential reciprocal tariffs further dampened the shipment momentum in April.
However, after the US announced on April 12 a temporary suspension of the reciprocal tariffs on notebooks, brand vendors actively replenished inventory in the latter half of April. As a result, the decline was less severe than the typical 30% drop seen in previous years, with shipments growing approximately 7.5% year-over-year.
