South Korea announced a US$950 billion package of AI cooperation initiatives in Silicon Valley on July 24, 2026, as President Lee Jae Myung led a delegation of government and business leaders to meet US tech executives. The agreements covered semiconductors, AI data centers, AI factories, robotics, and autonomous driving, according to Yonhap and Dealsite.
The Ministry of Science and ICT said the San Francisco AI Summit brought together South Korean companies and global technology groups to advance cooperation tied to the government’s previously-announced mega projects. The event included executives from Samsung Electronics, SK Group, Hyundai Motor Group, and Naver, along with leaders from Nvidia, Broadcom, OpenAI, and Anthropic.
The largest disclosed tie-up was between SK Group and Nvidia, with the two sides pursuing cooperation worth more than US$500 billion across AI factory construction and AI memory supply. SK Telecom and SK Hynix signed letters of intent with Nvidia, while SK Telecom said it would build South Korea’s largest 2GW AI factory in phases starting in 2027 using Nvidia’s next-generation GPUs and the DSX platform.
Samsung also announced a US$200 billion plan with Broadcom from 2026 through 2030 covering advanced memory chips and AI semiconductor foundry work. Separately, Samsung SDS formed a strategic partnership with Anthropic to expand enterprise AI services based on Claude.
Naver said it would widen its sovereign AI factory project with Nvidia and Brookfield from an initial 55MW to 200MW, with a longer-term goal of reaching 1GW. Hyundai Motor Group said it would work with Nvidia on a Robot Reference Platform and with Waymo on autonomous driving, while the ministry said the deals were intended to strengthen South Korea’s position in the global AI supply chain.
