Gus Technology has named Hota Group president Kuo-jung Shen as chairman after a June 30 shareholders' meeting, underscoring a deeper push into batteries, electric mobility, and energy systems. The move could shape supply chains serving vehicle makers, AI data centers, and industrial users as demand for backup power and high-performance batteries expands globally.

The board approved Shen's appointment, effective July 1, in what the company and observers described as both a continuation of the existing management team and a step toward strengthening Hota Group's new-energy and battery strategy. The change is also expected to support Gus Technology's expansion into automotive and high-end power applications.

Since Shen became president of Hota Group in August 2025, he has steered the group away from a traditional automotive parts supply chain and toward electric vehicles, unmanned vehicles, and AI-related applications. Through its investment in Gus Technology and Shen's broader leadership role, Hota is accelerating its entry into battery and energy systems, aiming to fill gaps in power-core and energy-storage technologies.

Gus Technology has recently focused on LTO, or lithium titanate, batteries, XNO niobium-based oxide materials, and high-nickel ternary lithium battery technologies. The company has positioned these products around high safety, high power, and long cycle life, targeting electric buses, unmanned vehicles, industrial equipment, energy storage, and UPS systems.

Rising demand for backup power at AI data centers and stronger adoption of new-energy vehicles have expanded the market for such technologies. Against that backdrop, Hota Group is expected to leverage its international automotive supply-chain relationships, customer base, and manufacturing management experience to help Gus accelerate product introductions and mass production.

Gus is also expected to strengthen Hota's battery technology and system-integration capabilities, creating a more vertically integrated structure spanning key components, power systems, and energy storage. Shen said Gus would maintain professional division of labor and independent operations while working more closely with Hota in R&D, capacity expansion, and market development.

He added that Gus has a solid foundation in battery technology and product development, while Hota's global automotive supply chain resources could help the company expand into additional application markets. Gus has also been working with National Taiwan University of Science and Technology on research and development, while bringing in international technology resources to improve system integration and product development efficiency.

With Hota's resources now added, Gus's next focus will be on technology commercialization and overseas market expansion.
