GTC 2025: Foxconn debuts AI nurse bot Nurabot, breaking into service robotics

AI adoption in industrial robotics is advancing rapidly, but the next frontier is its integration into service robots, including humanoid models. At GTC 2025, Foxconn unveiled Nurabot, an AI-driven nursing robot, signaling its move into healthcare automation. The company plans to roll out Nurabot in Taiwanese partner hospitals by late 2025.

Foxconn Chairman Young Liu previously signaled a strategic push into humanoid robot components and assembly. At GTC 2025, Foxconn reinforced this vision by showcasing multiple robotic solutions, including the Semiconductor Hybrid Robot, which leverages advanced vision recognition and precision motion control to boost efficiency and safety in semiconductor production.

Expanding healthcare automation

Expanding beyond manufacturing, Foxconn's Nurabot is built to streamline hospital workflows and enhance patient care. The AI-powered nursing robot will first be deployed at Taichung Veterans General Hospital—ranked among the world's top 100 smart hospitals—before wider adoption.

Designed for autonomous navigation in medical settings, Nurabot can transport specimens and handle various logistical tasks. Automating non-critical hospital operations helps reduce staff workload and allows healthcare professionals to concentrate on specialized care.

AI integration in manufacturing and healthcare

Foxconn is also presenting a keynote, "Reinventing Smart Manufacturing: How Foxconn Builds and Deploys an AI Workforce," detailing the role of Agentic AI in smart factories and its integration with Factory GPT and Embodied Intelligence Robots.

The company will further discuss AI in healthcare at "Transforming Patient Care With Digital Twins and AI-Powered Nursing Robots," where it will introduce Taiwan's first digital twin hospital ward and explore AI's expanding role in medical innovation.
