MediaTek has reported revenue climbed about 13% on month and nearly 90% from a year earlier to a record high of NT$41.33 billion (US$1.49 billion) in May 2021.
MediaTek's revenue totaled NT$185.93 billion for the first five months of 2021, rising a robust 80.2% on year.
Market watchers expect MediaTek's June revenue to stay above NT$40 billion.
MediaTek is on track to meet its sales growth estimate for the second quarter of 10-18% sequentially, said the company in response to the impact of COVID cluster infections at OSAT King Yuan Electronics (KYEC). MediaTek added the company and its backend partner are working closely to mitigate the impact.
MediaTek is also poised to meet its full-year sales growth and gross margin guidance, the fabless chipmaker said. It disclosed previously revenues would surge over 40% in 2021 with a 44-46% gross margin.
KYEC has estimated a 30-35% loss in its June output value due to a two-day fab closure and reduced capacity for two weeks, as the OSAT has experienced a cluster of COVID-19 infections among its workers and is striving to put the outbreak under control.
