Taiwan's agricultural authorities will soon amend rules to impose more restrictions on using farmlands and fish ponds for setting up PV power stations, sparking complaints by the local PV sector.
The Taiwan Photovoltaic Industry Association, PV Generation System Association and SEMI Taiwan PV Committee have jointly protested the amendment which they say will likely hinder the government's goal of attaining cumulative total PV installation capacity of 20GWp in 2025.
The new agricultural rules will restrict use of farmlands and fish ponds with high productivity, and hilly sites below two hectares for setting up PV power stations.
The new rules will substantially reduce the availability of sites for PV power stations, the three organizations said.
