Taiwan-based remote server management SoC provider Aspeed Technology is expected to see its revenues grow 25-30% on year in 2016 after it completes the acquisition of Broadcom's Emulex Pilot chipset business unit in September, according to company chairman and CEO Chris Lin.

Aspeed announced recently that it will acquire the Emulex Pilot business unit for US$30 million, of which US$11.386 million will be paid in cash and the remaining in Aspeed common shares.

Buoyed by the planned acquisition, total server SoC shipments are expected to reach 4.5 million units in 2016, an increase of 28.6% from a year earlier, Lin said.

Aspeed posted net profits of NT$89.36 billion (US$2.74 million) for the first quarter of 2016, up 10.5% on year. EPS for the January-March period stood at NT$2.73 compared to NT$2.57 a year earlier.

For the first four months of 2016, revenues totaled NT$392 million, increasing 24.6% from a year earlier.
