Intel's Haswell Refresh processors and 9-series chipset-based motherboards are already available in retail channels worldwide despite Intel still having not yet made an official announcement, according to sources from motherboard players. Intel is expected to announce the launches at the Computex 2014 in early June.
Players already started distributing related CPUs and motherboards at the end of April in markets such as China, Japan, Taiwan, Europe and North America, the sources noted.
However, channel retailers pointed out that Intel's new platform will not benefit the CPU giant's shipments as demand from the PC DIY market is unlikely to grow significantly. With the market seeing almost no growth, related players can only snatch market shares from each other, the retailers added.
At the Computex 2014, Asustek Computer, Gigabyte Technology, ASRock, Micro-Star International (MSI), Elitegroup Computer Systems (ECS) and Biostar are all expected to showcase their 9-series motherboards.
Intel will also unveil several new Haswell Refresh-based processors during the Computex 2014.
Intel is planning to launch its 14nm Broadwell-based desktop processors in the first quarter of 2015. Broadwell-based notebook processors are scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2014. Existing Bay Trail-D series processors including Pentium J2900 and Celeron J1900/1800 will be replaced by new products in early 2015.
