Touch controller IC design houses Elan Microelectronics and Egalax-empia Technology (EETI) both expect their revenues to post hefty growth in the third quarter of 2013 due to increasing penetration of touch-enabled notebooks and AIO (all-in-one) PC systems.

An improvement in order visibility for the third quarter indicates that more and more Windows 8, ultrabook and AIO PC models have adopted touch solutions, said Elan chairman Yeh I-hao.

Elan is expected to see its revenues hit a record high in June as well as in the second quarter of 2013, Yeh said, citing a company internal estimate.

Additionally, Elan has also received touch solution orders from a number of tablet brands, Yeh revealed, indicating that an array of tablets powered by Elan's touch solutions are expected to hit the market in the third quarter.

EETI said monthly revenues have been moving upward sequentially since the second quarter and are likely to hit a peak in the third quarter as most clients will launch new models in the third and fourth quarters.
