Taiwan-based integrated networking connector maker UDE is negotiating with a US-based and a Japan-based game console vendor, and stands a high chance of obtaining orders, according to the company. UDE recorded revenues of NT$1.11 billion (US$37.2 million), gross margin of NT$27.3%, net operating profit of NT$166 million, net profit of NT$125 million and net EPS of NT$1.86 for the first quarter of 2013.

UDE president Chen Min-che (transliterated from Chinese) pointed out that the company has been aggressively reducing the revenue contribution from its PC-related businesses and successfully dropped the percentage to around 30% in the first quarter, down significantly from 90% originally

Some market watchers believe that if UDE successfully enters the supply chains of the two game consoles, it will be responsible for at least 30% of the total supply volume and should start supplying the products in the third quarter.

In addition to the game console market, UDE is aggressive about the network communications market. Of the global demand for 2.4 billion connector ports, over 50% comes from telecommunications equipment and UDE currently has a global market share of about 7%.
