Silicon wafer shipments increase in 2Q12, says SEMI

Total silicon wafer area shipments were 2,447 million square inches in the second quarter of 2012, up 20% from the 2,033 million units shipped in the prior quarter, according to SEMI in its quarterly analysis of the chip industry.
