Taiwan-based Co-Tech Copper Foil expects its production of thin copper foils of below 0.5 oz will account for 62% of its total output in October 2010 compared to 57-58% currently.

An increase in the ratio of high-margin thin copper foils will mean more profits for Co-Tech, the company explained.

Demand for 12-micron thin copper foils from the handset sector in China has stared gaining momentum recently, it said. The launches of new notebooks, LCD TVs and smartphones have also helped stir up demand for thin copper foils, it added.

Buoyed by strong demand, Co-Tech said it is operating at full capacity at present compared to 95% in August, adding that it has a monthly capacity of 1,500 tons of copper foils.
