IBM will provide its PaaS (platform as a service) infrastructure to help ISVs in the Taiwan market set up SaaS (software as a service) architectures and provide cloud-based services, according to IBM Taiwan.
The project, called "Riding Cloud", will select qualified ISVs on an application basis, with interested applicants required to propose innovative and commercially feasible SaaS ideas by the end of February 2010, IBM Taiwan indicated.
The PaaS combines Pangoo Smarter Cloud Services, a cloud computing-based platform developed by Beijing-based IBM China Research Laboratory, IBM Taiwan pointed out.
ISVs in Taiwan usual base their business on a single-tenant model dealing with individual clients separately. IBM's PaaS can provide a multi-tenant platform serving multiple clients simultaneously, IBM Taiwan explained. If selected ISVs succeed in the Taiwan market, IBM will further assist them by providing the same PaaS in China, Europe and the US, IBM Taiwan indicated.
