Taiwan-based Coretronic has reported consolidated revenues for January dropped by 8% sequentially to NT$5.58 billion (US$176.73 million) because of slower shipments of TV-use backlight units (BLUs).
The company said its projector segment was sheltered from seasonality by shipments to new clients in January, with shipments totaling 62,000 units, about the same as December 2007.
BLU shipments increased 11% sequentially to 5.6 million units in January because of continued growth in monitor and notebook applications. But weak TV-use BLU shipments contributed to a decline in consolidated sales last month, the company said.
Although February has fewer working days because of the Lunar New Year holiday, Coretronic said it expects sales to stay flat compared to January.
