China-based TV maker Xiamen Overseas Chinese Electronics (Xoceco) on September 30 held a ground-breaking ceremony for a new flat-panel TV plant at Xiamen, Fujian province (China), according to the company.
The company will invest 1.3 billion yuan on the 450,000-square-meter site.
The first-stage construction of the new plant is expected to be completed in 2008. By 2010, the company's annual capacity for the flat-panel TVs will reach five million units, up from 3.5 million in 2008. The third-stage construction will be completed in 2015, with annual capacity of eight million units, according to a company press release.
