Arima Computer has landed ODM notebook orders from Hewlett-Packard (HP) for the first time since it completed a manufacturing contract with the US vendor in early 2003 and began focusing its efforts on the clone notebook market, according to market sources.
Arima started volume shipments of a 15-inch notebook to HP this quarter, the sources noted, adding that the model carries a high ASP (average selling price) and should improve Arima's gross margins.
Arima will continue targeting orders from the channel as well as OEM clients, according to company sources.
