Taiwan-based WLAN equipment maker Z-Com has landed orders from SMC Networks and Belkin to produce 802.11g-draft standard WLAN products, sources said.
According to sources, both vendors have chosen Intersil Prism GT chipsets for their new products. However, the companies, long-term users of 802.11b+ chipsets from Texas Instruments (TI), might switch to TI chipsets in the future, sources added.
Z-Com will make PCMCIA-interface cards, PCI-interface cards and routers for SMC and PCMCIA cards, PCI cards, access points (APs) and routers for Belkin, sources added.
The Taiwanese contractor also supplies 802.11g WLAN products for D-Link and Netgear.
